All About Centralized Applications

AMCAS, AACOMAS, AADSAS, CASPA, and NursingCAS are all centralized apps that deliver your information to the schools you select. The application systems do not judge what you enter and have no jurisdiction over whether you've met requirements. They are simply a vehicle for application delivery. When these services verify your application, they are simply cross checking what you entered in your application off your transcript to ensure that it matches exactly. Since the schools do not see your transcript, they need you to copy your transcripts exactly as they appear into the application. Someone sits there and checks that you did the correctly. That's all verification is.

You can submit your application without Letters of Rec or test scores. Your application will not be verified without ALL of your transcripts arriving at the centralized application service. If you have 5 out of 6 transcripts, you will simply wait in limbo until the last transcript arrives. It's SO important that you research the schools you've attended to find out how their transcript request system works so you aren't scrambling at the last minute. Once all of your transcripts arrive, they will begin verification, which usually takes 2-4 weeks, depending on what point in the cycle it is. Those who submit in June tend to get verified more quickly than those who submit in July.

Each application system recalculates your GPA. Your verified GPA probably won't match what's on your college transcript. And if you are applying to more than one system, your GPAs might not match. Try not to get too hung up on those little details. The difference between a 3.33 and a 3.42 is non-existent when it comes to admissions.

You can submit your application with just one school on your list to begin verification. You can add more schools in later. The schools will receive your app at midnight of the day you add them.

AMCAS & AACOMAS Open May 4

You can submit AACOMAS anytime, but schools will not receive your app until June 15.

You cannot submit AMCAS until May 29. The schools will receive your app at the end of June.
